Frequently Asked Questions
A Spiral is a continuous arc that curves around a fixed central point. Imagine the thread of a screw which winds around the length of the central steel column, or in our case, a spiral staircases that winds around a central fixed pole.
The treads of Spiral staircases wind around a central pole or column, which is anchored at the bottom to the floor and at the top on the upper landing. The treads are triangular in shape, and have a circular hole at the narrow end. Each tread is threaded over the pole and separated from the next by a timber bobbin. The treads gradually wind around the pole until they reach the floor above.
Depending of the design, size and materials used, our Spiral Staircases start from around £35,000 for a 1.8m diameter staircase, with 12 Oak treads and Oak or wrought iron balustrading, topped with a continuous curved Oak handrail. We can also include a matching gallery landing into the design, if required.

This is a Spiral Staircase we designed for a client in Leicestershire. It's made from American Black Walnut and features a decorative, curved balustrading that wraps around the newel post at the bottom.

We were commissioned to design and build two spiral staircases to fit within an old Hosiery mill being converted into Bond Street Gin Distillery and Bar in Hinckley, Leicestershire. This one is on the ground floor, and the photo below shows the second spiral staircase up into The Crows Nest

"Just to say that the staircase has turned out to be just as good – if not better – than we had hoped for. Your guys have done a fantastic job, and are a credit to your company. Thanks Peter."
