"A staircase isn't just a functional necessity; it’s the first thing people see when they walk through your door."

"A staircase isn't just a functional necessity; it’s the first thing people see when they walk through your door."
We design, manufacture, and install award-winning bespoke staircases, featuring stunning cantilevered staircases, floating staircases, elegant glass staircases and intricate helical & spiral staircases. From the initial concept right through to completion, we carefully consider each stage, ensuring a seamless process and exceptional results every time. If you're thinking about commissioning a new bespoke staircase
PeteNickDesign is a great place to start.
Offering a more contemporary look, our bespoke glass staircases combine sleek glass panels with materials like oak and stainless steel to create a true centerpiece in your home. With a variety of finishes and styles available, we can design your ideal glass balustrade staircase. Glass is also the No1 choice for your staircase renovation project.
Designed to give the illusion that the stairs are literally ‘floating’ in mid-air, a cantilever staircase, or floating staircase, will become the focal point of your home. With a steel string hidden in the supporting wall, we slide the Oak treads onto rigid steel brackets, ensuring that no supports or fixings are visible. A choice of glass or wrought iron balustrade completes the look.
Helical staircases pose one of the more complex design challenges we encounter, as our highly skilled craftsmen carefully shape the Oak strings and handrails to produce stunning, flowing curves. We provide options of matching Oak spindles, contrasting wrought iron, or curved glass balustrading.
Often confused with helical staircases, spiral staircases have treads that wind around a central column, whereas helical staircases curve around a cylindrical void. Spiral staircases offer a smaller footprint than traditional stairs, making them an ideal solution for tight spaces.

An Oak Spiral Staircase we designed and built for a customer in the Cotswolds. Featuring a curved outer string & antique bronze powder coated spindles.
"Just to say that the staircase has turned out to be just as good – if not better – than we had hoped for. Your guys have done a fantastic job, and are a credit to your company. Thanks Peter."

In 2016, I was invited to tender for the manufacture and installation of a truly unique staircase designed by leading architects Sanie + Hopkins.
The project was an engineering marvel: solid stainless steel strings, 40mm thick and nearly 4m long, required absolute precision. To allow the solid Oak treads to be wedged onto them, the strings had to be perfectly straight; even a millimetre of deviation would have compromised the entire structure. It was a formidable challenge, but one we relished. I remain immensely proud to have contributed to what became a multi-award-winning project.

This client knew exactly what they wanted; a stunning helical staircase for a traditional farmhouse, made from American Black Walnut with white painted turned spindles. The continuous Walnut handrails have volute starters and wreath corners. They love their helical staircase so much it features every year, hung with Christmas decorations, on their Instagram page.

The cost of a staircase renovation depends on the layout of your existing staircase, and how far you want to go? For example, a Stage One makeover of a straight staircase costs from around £5,000
For that, we replace your existing balustrade with solid Oak Newel posts and a choice of either Glass, Oak or Wrought Iron spindles, & an Oak handrail.

A Stage Two renovation,
like this one, includes everything in stage one, plus we over clad the strings with Oak veneers. Prices start from around £7,500
Should you wish, the Oak can be stained in a variety of shades and colours, from black to white, and the first step can be removed and replaced with a feature Oak Bullnose.
This staircase was a potential death-trap for the elderly homeowners! With no balustrading the lady was having to come down the stairs on her bottom! So we decided a full Stage Three renovation : was the best solution.... Fast forward 6 weeks and the transformation is nothing short of remarkable!
When this Stage Three renovation was completed, it looked exactly like a brand new staircase!
A transformation, like this one, includes everything in a stage two, plus we overclad the treads & risers in Oak, and replace the bottom step with a feature Oak Bullnose.
A full Stage Three renovation costs from around £10,000 and for that you'll get the look of a brand new staircase, for a whole lot less
