In 2016, I was invited to tender for the manufacture and installation of a truly unique staircase designed by leading architects Sanie + Hopkins.
The project was an engineering marvel: solid stainless steel strings, 40mm thick and nearly 4m long, requiring absolute precision. To allow the solid Oak treads to be slotted onto them, the strings had to be perfectly straight; even a millimetre of deviation would have compromised the entire structure.
It was a formidable challenge, but one we relished, and I remain immensely proud to have contributed to what became a multi-award-winning project.
